Apple and Samsung earning 95 percent of profit from mobile market

According to a report, the two companies dominating the global mobile market are Apple and Samsung. Both of these together earned more than 95 percent of mobile phone profits in the fourth quarter of 2011.
According to analysts, Apple took the lead and alone earned 80 percent of all mobile phone profits in the fourth quarter with just 56 percent in the third quarter. The company just holds 8.1 percent of the global mobile phone market.
At the same time, Samsung’s industry profits reduced to 15 percent from 26 percent, but its Android customers jumped to 39 percent from 35 percent.
For the quarter, Apple sold 37 million iPhones, raising its overall earnings up to $13 billion. Samsung didn’t disclose the number of Smartphones it sold, but analysts suggest the number as high as 35 million.
Apple and Samsung spent 2011 fighting each other for the top crown and with association both made life hard for the rest of the industry.
While Apple and Samsung both stand up with the strong positions in the market as they share their piece of cake with huge profits, most of the other companies are struggling on their own to compete with the pockets of Apple and Samsung.
