HTC will soon introduce its first dual SIM Smartphone – Desire V – in Pakistan in the month of July, although, the exact date has not been finalized yet.
HTC Desire V is the first middle end Smartphone from any company with Dual SIM capability. On SIM 1 it supports quad-band GSM/EDGE + dual-band HSPA whereas, on the secondary slot (SIM 2) it supports tri-band GSM.
HTC Desire V is basically targeting the middle end buying class – people who need to use 2 SIMs at a time but do not have better choices in the market apart from low quality Chinese phones and couple of featured phones from Nokia and Samsung.
Although, it is dual-SIM but certain desired functions are not available i.e you can run GPRS/EDGE on SIM 1 only. As we heard that it will have 512 MB RAM along with 800 MHz of processor, i think HTC should make sure before launching the phone that at least RAM is upgraded to 1GB. We are saying this because we have already experienced a lackluster performance on HTC ChaCha that also has similar processor and internal memory.
Similarly, there is no front facing camera, so no video calls on Skype but we are pretty hopeful that 5 MP back camera will be quite impressive as it has LED flash as well as auto focus.
Other than the above limitations, there are plenty of useful features that may raise the interest of large number of people for example; capacitive touchscreen, 16M colors, Beats Audio sound enhancement, Android OS, v4.0, SNS integration, Stereo FM radio with RDS, Accelerometer, proximity, compass and everything else that Android offers.
Few of the specifications are mentioned below;
Display Size | 480 x 800 pixels, 4.0 inches |
HTC Sense UI v4.0 | |
Sound | 3.5mm jack |
Beats Audio sound enhancement | |
Memory (Internal) | 4 GB storage, 512 MB RAM |
microSD, up to 32 GB | |
Camera | 5 MP, 2592х1944 pixels, autofocus, LED flash |
OS | Android OS, v4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) |
Chipset | Qualcomm MSM7227A Snapdragon |
CPU | 1 GHz Cortex-A5 |
GPU | Adreno 200 |
Battery | Standard battery, Li-Ion 1650 mAh |
The price of the phone should be between Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 30,000
