Shahbaz Sharif orders IT Board to establish digital libraries and referencing website


Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif has ordered Dr Umar Saif, Chairman IT Board, to plan a project for digital libraries establishment in all campuses in order to provide ebooks free of cost to all the students. According to the announcement made on his Facebook page , the work on this project will start immediately after the project for distribution of free laptops among the brilliant students of province will complete.
Besides, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has also ordered the Punjab Information Technology Board to establish an easy to navigate website, which will categorize the links to the important digital libraries, online books and online lectures in all the fields of knowledge. In this regard, Shahbaz Sharif wants the board to follow the links of MIT Open Courseware website.
CM Punjab has added that the digital library will not only help students in education but it will also help to achieve the real goals behind the building of computer labs throughout the province.  So the distribution of free laptops combined with the digital libraries and the reference website will provide great support in promotion of education in Pakistan’s most populated province.
