Not more than 3 months ago i heard from a PTCL executive that soon company would launch mouth watering products that will create a buzz in Pakistan. I had this feeling that PTCL would soon enter into Smartphone market backed by its CDMA based 3G flavor. And yes, it is true, it has just launched an Android based 3G enabled Smartphone which is called IVIO Icon Pro. Although, the name is not user friendly but the Smartphone has few very unique feature such as dual support for EVDO as well as GSM/CDMA network.
I don’t know, how people are going to react as this machine has Android 2.2 Froyo which runs on 600 MHz of Qualcomm processor, whereas, already HTC (HTC Explorer) and Samsung (Galaxy Y) have launched the budget Android based Smarphones in Pakistan. But, one thing for sure, both the companies do not provide as of now, high speed internet on the go. On the other hand, this phone “IVIO ICON Pro” definitely gives you this opportunity to share whatever content you want while you are moving. Perhaps, we will review the three of them later.
The company says, you can talk and surf simultaneously and that too at 3.1 Mbps. IVIO Icon Pro can be used with any GSM network in Pakistan. Further, it can be used without SIM for the data purpose in the CDMA mode.
The phone is priced at Rs. 16,000 but it is being offered by PTCL for Rs. 16,999 (EVO Wings) along with 5GB data and 3 months internet validity. The second package has 15GB of data with 6 months validity (EVO Winds) which is priced at Rs. 17,999/- Following are its main features; (Price noted on January 10, 2012)
