Mobilink launches free facebook service for its subscribers

Mobilink launches free facebook service for its subscribersMobilink is launching today a free facebook service – 0 facebook (Zero Facebook) – on its network. Mobilink subscribers will be able to use facebook on their mobilephones without any internet charges.
For keeping the service free, with no hidden charges, subscriber can play with all basic text based features of facebook that includes updating his/her profile, likes, commenting, view new posts and send and reply to messages. It will not show the images but a link will be displayed instead. If a subscriber clicks on the image, Mobilink will start charging the data.
Mobilink has already tested the same service some two years back. Earlier it was introduced for only two months.
0.facebook.com is basically a free version of imageless facebook that was launched back in May 2010 mainly targeting the mobilephones users across the world who could not access the facebook on their mobilephones due to high data rates and low internet speed.
According to various surveys, Pakistan has nearly 6 million facebook users. This new service is free for six months.  Through this offer, Mobilink is expecting a surge in its subscriber base as well as implied data usage. Company plans to hold a small gathering for bloggers in order to officially update on this new service.
