Secretary General ITU (International Telecommunication Union) – Dr. Hamadoun I. Toure is currently visiting Pakistan for the first time in an official capacity. He attended a ceremony at PTA head quarter in Islamabad where Chairman PTA Dr. Mohammad Yaseen and his team along with head of all cellular companies welcomed him.
Mr. Yaseen apprised Dr. Hamadoun of achievements and future goals of Telecommunication in Pakistan, especially the mobile phone service and wireless broadband.
Mr. Hamadoun appreciated the role of PTA for the growth of telecommunication in Pakistan while maintaining a balance between the interests of consumers and the investors.
Mr. Hamadoun also visited the PTCL head quarter and met with top management of the company. He appreciated the working of PTCL by saying, ” By connecting the length and breadth of the country and reducing the digital divide, PTCL it is truly honoring the global objectives and values espoused by ITU.”
